🔥 *Aramco halts crude supplies to Indian refiners*

🏦 *Forex reserves dip $4.9 bn to $780.8 bn*

Reserves fell in the week ended Sept 11, the first decline after 10 straight weekly gains, with foreign currency assets down $2.4 bn to $645.8 bn and gold down $2.6 bn to $111.2 bn. The drop follows a record $44.9 bn jump the week before, so the buffer for rupee defence remains historically strong.

📈 *Direct tax mop-up up 13%, advance tax up 16%*

Net direct tax collections rose 12.96% to ₹12.12 lakh crore till Sept 17, and advance tax grew 16.18% to ₹5.22 lakh crore. Corporate advance tax rose 18.09% against 9.24% for non-corporates, which points to healthy corporate earnings and a comfortable fiscal position.

📈 *STT collections surge 53% to ₹40,214 crore*

Collections since April are up from ₹26,306 crore a year earlier after futures STT rose to 0.05% from 0.02% and options premium STT to 0.15% from 0.1%. Higher derivatives costs are a headwind for broker and exchange volumes, though the Budget target is ₹73,700 crore for FY27.
